President Muhammadu Buhari has landed in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state ahead of his tour of the South-east. Buhari was received by some south-east governors at the airport.
This was in a bid to fulfill his promise of beginning a 2-day visit to Ebonyi and Anambra states. According to him,
“I will begin a 2-day visit to Ebonyi and Anambra states. Let me reiterate my words to Southeast leaders who visited me at the State House last month: My administration will not discriminate against any part of Nigeria.
“I will again assure the people of the southeast that we are investing in infrastructure projects that are of critical importance to the region: the Second Niger Bridge, the East-West Road, the coastal rail, power projects – these and more will benefit the region and unlock economic potential.
“We are collaborating with the Chinese government to deliver these projects, and have taken very seriously our counterpart funding obligations”.
However, it was gathered that upon arriving in Ebonyi he did not inspect the Guard of Honour mounted in his honour by soldiers of the Nkwoagu Military Cantonment, Abakaliki.
It was gathered that his failure to inspect the Guard of Honour was to save time for other numerous meetings lined up for his visit.
This development is arising after several accusations of lop-sided appointments and marginalization of the South-east has plagued the Buhari Administration.
