Ike Ekweremadu Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plot By EFCC To Plant Money, Ammunition In His Home

    Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has raised an alarm over an alleged plan by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to get him entangled in a corruption case.
    According to Ekweremadu, the anti-corruption agency wants to invade his country home in Enugu and other apartments, under the guise of searching for looted funds.

    Ekweremadu raised a point of order on the matter at plenary on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. While reading a letter reportedly written to him by an unnamed Nigerian, informing him of the plot by the EFCC, Ike Ekweremadu said the anti-graft agency also plans to ‘plant’ ammunition in his apartment during the raid.

    He claimed the move is to force him out of office and give the impression that he is a corrupt politician, unfit to hold any public office. He added that plans have also been concluded by the EFCC to use groups to protest in major cities across the country, calling for his resignation and prosecution.

    The letter reads:

    “They said on 6th of May Saturday night or Sunday the EFCC alongside the local and international media under the guise the whistle-blowing policy of the Federal Government have obtained a warrant to search an apartment alleging to be one of your guest houses in Enugu capital state.

    “The EFCC will be claiming to have a tip-off from a whistleblower from your state alerting the EFCC of a huge amount of money of currency in the apartment said to be belonging to you, Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
    “The proceed which is likely to be illegally obtained and acquired will constitute an abuse of office and corruption.

    The things said to be discovered in the said apartment are a huge amount of money with huge currencies such as British Pounds sterling, US dollars, Indian rupees, Do cents allegedly to be yours such as 2015 campaign logistics. There will be a single photograph.”
    Just recently too, the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, alleged that there is a plot by the police to either kill him or implicate him by planting weapons in his house in Abuja.

    Wike alleged that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, wants to raid his house in Abuja and plant large amount of dollars, guns and weapons in an attempt to incriminate him.
