Yahoo Spied on Users for the US Government

A report claims that Yahoo developed a custom programme to search all users’ incoming email for specific queries given by US intelligence officials. Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer said, “We’ve worked hard over the years to earn our users’ trust & we fight hard to preserve it,” during the Yahoo’s transparency report where it documents government requests for user data.

Now though, all that seems like a lie. Yahoo’s surveillance programme was initiated in spring 2015 which also led to the resignation of then-Chief Information Security Officer, Alex Stamos. Mayer & Yahoo General Counsel Ron Bell ordered the creation of the email. Stamos, who is currently Chief Security Officer at Facebook has declined an interview
