Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) outfit, Enyimba FC have rubbished reports that the club is in touch with new coaches and players after the climax of the season.
There have been media reports that the seven-time champions, that finished ninth on the log with 50 points from 36 games, have been in contact with new coaches to replace Paul Aigbogun’s crew after a disappointing finish to the season.
The Elephants, however, might give their fans something of worth to remember the season by winning the Federation Cup title. They play in the semi final against Nasarawa United on Saturday, October 15, and will face FC Ifeanyi Ubah if they make it to the final.
The two-time CAF Champions League winners have debunked the claims made by the media on signing of new coaches and players and revealed that the club is fully focused on the upcoming Federation Cup semi final tie.
“The attention of Enyimba Football Club has been drawn to the recent media reports of the club being in touch with new coaches and players. With claims that these coaches and players are in talks with the club and a move will be finalized soon. The club distances itself from these false and fabricated reports.
“We acknowledge that it is common practice that a player or coach who wants to boost his image will claim he has been contacted by Enyimba. The Club is in no such discussions and should such need arise, knows whichever coach or player it needs and will hire such a person professionally not on the pages of newspapers,” the release continues.
“At the moment, we are fully focused on the upcoming Federation Cup semi-final and are not happy with these false reports. Journalists should do a proper job of inquiring from the club if a claim is true before posting such stories.”
