Super Eagles of Nigeria manager, Gernot Rohr is confident ahead of his side’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier game against Zambia at Ndola on Sunday.
The newly signed coach his optimistic of a win in front of the home fans of the Chipolopolo despite the absence of key players like Leon Balogun, Victor Moses and Isaac Success because of injury.
“We go to Zambia to win,” declared a confident Rohr.
“It will be difficult because Zambia have a good team and like the three other teams in our group, any one of us could qualify for the World Cup.
“We watched them against Kenya (in an AFCON qualifier last month) and the pitch in Ndola is not good, but it will be the same for both teams.”
The 63-year-old, who has previously managed the Burkina Faso, Niger and Gabon national teams, also expects the replacements for the injured marquee players to prove themselves during the encounter and battle for starter’s shirts.
“We will be missing Balogun, Victor Moses and Isaac Success, but we’re a team and the other players will have their chance to show their qualities,” he said.
Uche Agbo of Granada CF, Chisom Egbuchulam and Godwin Obaje are the players called up to replace the injured Eagles initially called-up..
